One night, during the hot summer months, I recorded a pair of crickets in Lakewood, Colorado. Occasionally, a car passed by or an airplane flew overhead. On cleaning up the recording I realized that the pitch of these crickets never changes. In order to have a whole assortment of crickets both large and small, I would have to change the pitch. So I took 1600 samples from the original recording, each pitched differently and then randomly piled up within the course of an hour. They all fade in and out very slowly, like waves breaking on a reef, so the result is a journey through the slowly changing world of differently sized pairs of crickets.
